1. What FogRider Does

FogRider is a native Windows desktop app (built with Tauri) for viewing and analyzing GPX tracks on an interactive map. It lets you load GPX files, watch Fog of War clear along the roads you've ridden, and analyze the speed, elevation and surface type of your tracks.

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

FogRider stores the following data only on your own PC. None of it is transmitted to us:

• GPX tracks and "profiles" (named collections of tracks, including colors and display settings) that you explicitly save - written as JSON files to a location you choose, via a native save dialog. Nothing is saved automatically unless you choose to save a profile.
• App preferences and progress that persist between sessions - achievement unlock status, your Fog of War hex-size choice, and sidebar layout settings, kept in the app's local data storage.

You can delete any saved profile file directly from disk at any time. Preferences and achievement progress can be reset from within the app, or cleared entirely by removing the app's local data folder.

3. Third-Party Services FogRider Connects To

FogRider has no backend server of its own. When certain features are used, the app connects directly to the following third-party services:

• OpenStreetMap / Overpass API - used to fetch tourist points of interest and to classify the surface type of your tracks (asphalt, gravel, forest path, etc.). Only geographic coordinates are sent; no personal data is included.
• Komoot API - if you choose to import activities from Komoot, the app connects directly to Komoot's API using the login credentials you provide. Your credentials and session token are used only within your app session and are never sent to or stored on our servers.
• Map tiles - base map imagery is loaded from OpenStreetMap and CARTO, subject to their own privacy practices.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

Because FogRider has no backend server, we do not collect, log, or have access to any of the following:

• Your GPX tracks or location data
• Your Komoot login credentials
• Usage statistics, analytics, or crash reports

5. Children's Privacy

FogRider is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

6. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
