      The EggSPEED Bluetooth Module only passes data between the EggSPEED app on your phone and your bike's controller, over a local Bluetooth link. It has no internet connection and collects, stores and transmits no personal data of any kind.
    

1. What the Module Is

The EggSPEED Bluetooth Module is a do-it-yourself hardware converter: a Bluetooth serial module (DSD TECH BT-06 or HC-06), a step-down power converter and two resistors, built by you from the free guide published on GitHub. It plugs into the Bafang controller's HIGO 5-pin connector and replaces the USB OTG programming cable. It is not sold by us.

2. How Data Flows

When EggSPEED is connected, the module forwards the controller's serial data (configuration and live telemetry such as speed, power, current and voltage) to your phone over Bluetooth Classic (SPP), and forwards EggSPEED's commands back to the controller. That is all it does.

3. Data Stored on the Module

The Bluetooth module keeps only its own settings, which you set when you program it: its Bluetooth name, its PIN and its serial speed (1200 baud). It holds no personal information, location or riding data.

4. Pairing and Your PIN

Pairing uses standard Bluetooth pairing with a PIN. The module ships with the default PIN 1234. We strongly recommend setting your own PIN while programming the module (Manual 1 in the build guide), so that nobody nearby can pair with your bike while the battery is on. Turn the battery off with its own switch after riding - this also switches the module off.

5. The EggSPEED App

The module is used with the EggSPEED Android app. What the app does with the data on your phone is described in the EggSPEED Privacy Policy. In short, EggSPEED keeps everything on your device and requests no internet access.

6. This Website

The module's page embeds a setup video hosted on YouTube and loads its fonts from Google Fonts. When the video player loads or plays, YouTube (Google) may process data under its own privacy policy. Links to GitHub open GitHub's website, which has its own privacy policy. This website itself runs no analytics.

7. Children's Privacy

The module and its build guide are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
